DID YOU KNOW? AN EMOTION HAS A LIFESPAN OF 90 SECONDS

This is how it works: something happens - a conflict, a difficult conversation, or an unpleasant encounter - and then we keep replaying this situation in our heads over and over again.

And we 'keep throwing logs on the fire':

"How could he!" "This is outrageous!" "Why can't she just do xyz...!" and thus keep the fire of our emotions burning bright.

Whereas if we just allowed the emotion to wash through us, it would only take a minute or two.

If this is you - stop for a moment and observe: Do you 'have to' throw logs on the fire?

Or better: do you really WANT to prolong the feeling?

What is the impact of keeping it burning? Is anything positive achieved by stoking it continuously?
